Ms. Rasheed’s personal journey

  • Missing out on her K-12 education, begging for schooling, and being isolated from the world to teaching herself basic academics as a child, starting college at 13 as a dual enrollment student in home education, and graduating high school at 14.
  • Being overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, PTSD, and fear of rejection, to building a positive outlook that lasts and a sense of awareness of self that provides peace of mind and facilitates healing.
  • Going from unusable credit and being a victim of identity theft to creating two best selling books on personal credit development and helping people from across the nation to get approved, save thousands of dollars, and lower their interest rates.
  • Being without skills, credibility, and even feeling stuck in life to teaching herself to sew, how to build hydrogen generators, doing home repairs, building and designing websites and SEO, social media marketing, sales and closing, and intellectual property such as writing and self-publishing non-fiction and children’s books , composing music.
  • Being without a stable income and not making money enough for a decent place to live, to creating multiple streams of income in several different areas including real estate investing and intellectual property.
  • Losing jobs out of lack of support, getting degrees that felt useless, and being unsure about my career choices to creating a coaching business that elevated my income and uses my gifts and talents to help others.

Welcome and Thanks for Reading

No matter how difficult things became for me, I was able to plant seeds and learn what I needed to do to create the life I wanted to live. This was not something that I was taught. It was something I had to discover by taking risks, by being a non-participant in what did not work for me (which netted me a lot of dirty looks and lost many friends along the way), and required me to go at a pace that was different from everyone else’s.In my cultural experience, POC know the opposite of this best as, “My people perish for lack of knowledge.”

I took this phrase so literally that my goal became, as a coach, to help people live their best life. If the only reason why you’re perishing is because you don’t know you are, then someone has to give you the knowledge you need so that you can apply it and live. You can live a very comfortable life on the outside that is terribly uncomfortable on the inside. This is what doing what everyone else is doing feels like. Someone has to let you know what you’re missing out on. That is a big responsibility. It is a heavy burden that brings me tremendous joy when people share with me the shifts they’ve experienced in their own lives because of something I taught them. Because of Breaking Free and creating their own yes.

Our vision

As I write this, I am not only doing this to document my own FIRE journey, (Financial Independence, Retire Early), I am planting seeds for every person who has experienced trauma and who desires to heal their own life through the eight dimensions of wellness.

  1. Emotional/Mental
  2. Spiritual
  3. Intellectual
  4. Physical
  5. Environmental
  6. FInancial
  7. Occupational
  8. Social

As you read this blog from a place of trauma, know that your trauma will do it’s best to make this journey seem impossible. It took me 20 years to get to this point where I have a clear understanding of what is required of me. I am healing so that you can too. The hardest part is going to be conquering your mindset and everything that people told you was true, that actually isn’t true at all. I won’t lie to you and pretend that it will be easy. I won’t tell you, like some guru, that following these steps will lead you exactly to where you need to be, because like me, you have so many areas that need healing and you may only find a few of those answers here. I’ve traveled a long way and I still understand that I have a long ways to go. Like my Sigung says in my martial arts school, “When you become a black sash, you realize you’re just a white belt and a punch is just a punch.”

I have etched out a roadmap not only to create money when there is none, but to find healing, break destructive patterns, and give you what I found to give myself peace of mind. I can’t give you the innate abilities that I have been given to discover these steps. What I can do is give you tools that you can use to discover your next steps yourself. Traditional money management has not worked for me. I either made far too little money to budget, I had money coming from so many directions that budgeting was confusing, or just tracking what I did to live every day was very challenging because I wasn’t always certain where money would come from.

Traditional money management is made for people who have a 9 to 5 job. Since I don’t have a 9 to 5, my approach to the FIRE movement may be different than what you would see in other blogs. My hope is to assist you in your growth by giving you techniques that, when applied, will help you reach your goals. I became interested in the FIRE movement in 2019 after joining personal finance groups and reading about the movement. I was immediately intrigued and inspired by the thousands of women who had taken control of their financial wellbeing and the resources they shared freely among one another.  While I had a great deal of knowledge about personal credit, I did not have a good foundation for money management. I began compiling a list of books that were recommended for beginners in the Financial Independence (FI) movement and doing extensive research.

I am writing this blog for a few reasons:

  1. I would like to learn how to use my current incomes in a way that allow me to retire at the age of 45.
  2. Being able to support myself is very important, and having excellent money management is the key to not only supporting myself, but it is the key to financial prosperity, generational wealth and continuing to break destructive patterns in my life.
  3. Researching multiple blogs on the FIRE movement, I did not find people who were like me who could speak to my experience. I would love to find FIRE blogs written by single mothers, FIRE blogs written by black women, and FIRE blogs coming from a place of trauma where people like me can get the tools they need not only financially but for mindset work that is needed before financial healing can even begin.                                                                                                 I am writing this blog for the millions of people out there who have been raised with trauma and need to know that they too can find happiness and prosperity in the FIRE movement.
